Mansfield House

ONGOING | Mar 26, 2010 | raised £1,000+

On the day there was a cake and book sale, raffle draw and a beauty treatment service on offer. Some officers were even auctioned off for a couple of hours during which they were at the mercy of the highest bidder! The day was a great success and raised over £1,000. David and Almina attended the event and joined in the activities.

In addition to the above event, colleagues from Mansfield House are doing ongoing fund-raising for David.

As well as the brilliant support generated from the above events, David's colleagues are always on the lookout for other ways to help raise money for David. Other fantastic fund-raising initiatives have included:

  • A colleague of David's completed a sponsored silence for the day - and found it very difficult but worth it, in order to raise money for David;
  • In March, PCSO Tim Jones, David's friend and colleague - who is well known for having a beard - shaved it off, along with all of his hair in order to raise money for David;
  • On 30th March, a quiz took place at a local Yates pub, in Leicester city centre. This was arranged by Mark Williamson at Fenwick, Leicester and all proceeds went to two causes: Rainbows and Team Robinson. There was also a generous raffle on the night. David's friend and colleague, PC Matthew Linnell, arranged teams and generated a lot of interest for the event. There was a great turnout at the event and several of the teams were made up of David's colleagues;
  • Another cake sale and raffle took place at Mansfield House Police Station on 22nd April, continuing the great support shown by the staff at David's workplace;
  • During April, several skydives were completed by David's colleagues and more are scheduled to take place in May. These brave and a little crazy people, jumping from 10,000 feet have generated great interest and sponsorship. A good amount of money has been raised and more is to come. Watch this space for more information and hopefully a few photos to come soon.

Other events in the pipeline include a sports charity auction to be held at Leicestershire Constabulary Headquarters in Enderby, Leicester on 12 May and a band of five police officers who are planning to play a gig at Leicestershire Constabulary Headquarters in Enderby, Leicester. More information will be made available as soon as this event is confirmed.
