£3,000+ donated online alone
Sergeant Spike Webber initiated a surge of donations by police officers and police staff around the UK from an e-mail generated by his team. The group of police officers began their shift over an hour earlier than usual so that they could put together an e-mail to reach out to colleagues in all the 43 police forces in the UK by asking each officer to donate £1 to Team Robinson.
The response was extraordinary - within minutes, donations were flooding in online and, by the end of the week, over £3000 had been donated online alone. In addition to this, there are cash and cheque donations being collected by Sergeant Webber on a daily basis. The donations are still coming in.
I am extremely grateful to Sergeant Webber and his team for such a wonderful gesture in the first place. The fact that this has generated such an enormous response is just overwhelming and very humbling. In addition to the fantastic sponsorship, I am aware that there have been many messages sent to me in e-mails sent via this website. I am extremely touched by the heartfelt comments left by so many colleagues offering positive and encouraging words. Reading these has left me very emotional and I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has been part of this initiative.

Messages for David
A number of well-wishers have been handing donations and cards to David's friends and family as well as police staff at enquiry desks at various police stations. David has been reading the messages as they have been passed on to him and is very grateful and very touched by the generosity and kind words offered by so many strangers.

David meets the players, manager and owner
David is a huge Leicester City Football Club fan. He has season tickets and today he got the chance to meet the players, manager Nigel Pearson and club owner Milan Mandaric during a training session. The meeting was a surprise for David, and was organised by his colleague and friend Sergeant Nick White who unfortunately could not make the meeting himself. Instead Chief Inspector Rosie Grant was there as were local newspaper Leicester Mercury.
